VENTAJAS DE LOS CONCURSOS DE MÚSICA...ENTRE OTRAS

Eduardo Inestal, Primer Premio del "Concurso de Guitarra de Nueva Generación"(nominación 35+)
Rusia

"Concurso de Guitarra de Nueva Generación" (nominación 35+)After many guitar contest (some of them with success) I stopped a decade ago doing it. I wanted to use my time and strenght on diferent projects.
Anyhow, a month ago I took part of "New Generation Guitar Competition" (nomination 35+) hosted in Russia, were I was awarded with the 1st. Prize
🙂
I wanted to show my students the importance of having goals. Winning or not was not the point.
Some days ago, I readed again an article of Maria Joao Pires where she criticised Music competitions.
Here my opinion about music competitions:
I believe, and it doesn´t matter how old you are, or what level do you have, that are important for us for:
1. it keeps you focus and fit.
2. it makes you practise. It sets a goal.
3. it makes you stronger and allows you to improve your capacity of coping with failure.
4. It makes you being critic with yourself, ergo, improve your capacity of learning.
5. it makes you learn a new repertoire that you may be not learn in other circustances. (My case at Markneukirchen)
6. If you win something, you win, if you "loose", you win (experience, friends...)
This list could be much longer. Try to find your thoughs about it,
I was lucky aswell that my former teachers (Marcos Martín, Hugo Geller, and Joaquín Clerch) were very supportive and helped me a lot. Very important if it's you the teacher... be intelligent and support your student the best way for him (not everyone needs the same)
but...
Try to be honest with yourself, don´t be a prick and ego-maniac, and the most important thing... enjoy the jorney.
Cheers,
